Temperature character of permanent magnet synchronous motor with different slot/pole combination

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of modeling of wirewound winding in temperature calculation, a simplified layer model was used to substitute the real model of wirewound winding, a heatcooling calculation was established using the model, the temperature result and distribute trend was closed to the real model, which verified the correctness of the simplified method. Aiming at researching the influence of stator slot numbers on winding temperature, the temperature character of a midlow power permanent magnet wind turbine generator was considered, the model of motor stator was established with the layer model, the FEM was used to get the temperature result, then the trend of the winding average temperature influenced by slot number was gotten. A 32 poles 36 slots generator was tested to verify the calculated method. A waterjet motor was investigated with the same method. The results indicate that, as the slot number increasing, the stator temperature is reduced, and the rate is slowdown. When the ratio of slot/pole is bigger than 4.5, the influence of the slot number to the temperature is not serious enough.
