Study on detection and modeling of torque characteristics
of switched reluctance motor

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of strongly multivariable coupling property and nonlinearity of the switched reluctance motor(SRM), it was very difficult to obtain the torque characteristics and establish the mathematical model of torque of SRM. The issues that how to acquire SRM′s torque characteristics and establish the mathematical model of torque of SRM were studied. Experimental methods based on transient current and steady state current were given respectively to obtain the torque characteristics of a four phase 8/6 SRM. Mathematical model of torque of the SRM was established with curve fitting method, based on torque data measured from the experiment. A curve fitting method based on the interval segments is proposed. The result indicates that the method to measure the torque characteristics and the method to establish the mathematic model of torque of SRM are proved to be effective.
