Abstract: Aiming at the problem of low thrust density of existing permanent magnet linear synchronous motor, a salient pole halbach permanent magnet Linear synchronous motor(SHPMLSM) was proposed. Firstly, the topology of salient pole halbach permanent magnet linear motor was introduced, based on the finite element method, the secondary magnetic field distribution of the motor was analyzed, the primary winding scheme of the motor was fixed. According as the rotating electrical machine characteristics, the main size of the SHPMLSM was determined. Secondly, the finite element simulation model of 16 pole 15 slots SHPMLSM unit motor was established, and the electromagnetic characteristics of the motor were researched. Lastly, under the same condition of permanent magnet dosage, primary winding and airgap, made comparisons with the SPMLSM, and the influence of changes of the salient pole’s width, height and PM’s magnetization direction on the performance of SHPMLSM was investigated. The simulation results indicate that the SHPMLSM unit motor has a higher thrust density than SPMLSM, the thrust of SHPMLSM increased by 10.61% than SPMLSM. With good magnetic shielding of Halbach array, the problem of magnetic leakage and low thrust of conventional PMLSM is improved.
