Design and experimental study of a dog clutch

Abstract: Aiming at the problems of oil pump loss during clutch engagement and resistance loss during overshoot, the automatic transmission system was studied, and a high-efficiency, high-quality engagement jaw-type one-way clutch was proposed. First, make sure that the inner surface of the clutch was a rotor with a straight spline, and it was fixed on the housing. And the outer surface was a transmission shaft with a spiral spline, which was directly fixed on the planetary gear. Then, it was connected to the transmission shaft through a rotating spline, the transmission torque was directly converted into engagement force. Secondly, in the clutch unit test, the drag reduction effect was confirmed, and the shift of 1-2 gears without torque gap was realized. Finally, in the vehicle operation test, the engagement chatter during upshifts was evaluated. The research results show that comparing with the traditional multi-disc wet clutch, the resistance of the clutch is reduced by 50%~60%. In addition, the engagement chattering during the engagement process is only 50% of the traditional jaw clutch.
