Abstract: Aiming at the brake system function requirements of tram, the electronic mechanical brake (EMB) clamps was studied, and a design scheme of EMB clamp was proposed. Firstly, the analysis of the functional requirements of the clamp was studied, and the technical parameters of the electronic mechanical brake clamp were determined, and the working principle of the electronic mechanical brake clamp was proposed. Then, the mathematical model was established to determine the design parameters of the motor and transmission mechanism; the integrated simulation method was used to analyze the performance parameters of electronic mechanical brake clamp. Finally, the performance of the electronic mechanical brake clamp was verified through the prototype performance test and environmental adaptability test. The test results show that the response time of electronic mechanical brake clamp is less than 300ms, the system steady-state error is ±0.5kN, the overshoot is less than 1.4kN, the maximum output force reaches 28kN, and the fitting degree of 1Hz sine wave following is good. The electronic mechanical brake clamp has the functions of output force application and release, parking braking, wear clearance self compensation and manual auxiliary release. The function and performance parameters of the electronic mechanical brake clamp meet the requirements of tram, and the engineering application conditions are available.
