Parametric modeling of cylindroid helicalcoil compression spring

Abstract: Aiming at solving the problem of complicated upgrading in the process of threedimensional modeling of complex parts, the method of parametric modeling of cylindroid helicalcoil compression springs in SolidWorks has been explored. The threedimensional model of cylindroid helicalcoil compression springs was firstly established and the characteristic dimensions controlling the spring structures was set as the variant parameters, the VB applications were developed by Visual Basic 6.0, combined with the technology of Access 2003 database. A series of cylindroid helicalcoil compression springs can be generated automatically by assigning different values to the variant parameters through the manmachine dialogue window in the VB interface. The results indicate that the automaticity of threedimensional modeling of complex parts can be improved significantly by means of parametric modeling.
