Thickness measurement of metallic coating from pulsed eddycurrent signals

Abstract: As a new branch of the eddy current nondestructive testing,the pulsed eddy current testing technology can detect the thickness of the metal conductor quickly and easily In order to study the technology in the measuring of the thickness of the metal,  the sensor was designed firstly and its operating principal was analyzed The ANSOFT software was used to get the response signal in different metal thickness Different thickness of aluminum foils were detected and cubic spline interpolation was used to fit experimental data The relationship between the thickness and voltage signals was obtained The conclusion shows that the thickness of the metal can be detected precisely on the pulsed eddy current testing technology
