Modular design of gasbag polishing tool and its application

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of effective integration of active,magnetic control and magnetorheological gasbag polishing tool with different structural features and use functions,its modular design was completed based on modular theory,considering the demand variability of product and standardization of main structure,and utilizing the sharing effect and combinatorial optimization,which is also the basis of product family programming. The basic modular theory,a functional module partition,detailed structural design and product family programming were analyzed. Through the modules of flexible working,magnetic field generator,pressure control cavity,motivation,connecting piece,measurement and control,automatic,flexible,controllable,and changeable characteristics of novel gasbag polishing technique were guaranteed. The polishing experiments were carried out on the robot-assisted polishing platform on free-form surface mould. The core of which is the modular polishing tool. The results indicate that modular polishing tool applied to polish die steel can obtain high-quality surface Ra 0.006 μm.
