Development of new directdrive motor and its application in beverage conveyor line

Abstract: Aiming at the low efficiency of the asynchronous motor and retarder which used in the beverage conveyor line, and in order to improve the efficiency of the drive unit, the idea of replacing the asynchronous motor and retarder with the lowspeedhightorque and high efficiency directdrive motor to drive the conveyor directly was presented. The torque and power requirements of the drive unit were analyzed under different operation conditions of the bottle conveyor belt, and then the basic parameters of the directdrive motor were determined. In order to achieve the requirements of lowspeedhightorque and high efficiency, the directdrive motor was designed based on the rare earth permanent magnet synchronous motor technology, and a prototype of the directdrive motor was produced. The energysaving effect of the directdrive motor was verified by the practical test of the prototype of the beverage conveyor line. The results show that, the rated efficiency of the directdrive motor is up to 83%, and comparing with the asynchronous motor and retarder, the directdrive motor can save 30%~40% energy.
