Abstract: Aiming at the difficulties of identifying the complex contact conditions and the contact area of the aspheric surfaces ballonet polishing which were caused by the ballonet contacted with the workpiece surface and deformed its shape to fit the worked surfaces, the process of large aspheric surface ballonet polishing was analyzed according to the suitable assumption. The mathematic model of external contact area of the ballonet was founded, and a new parameter model was proposed. According to the geometric parameter model method, the boundary of contact area was analyzed and the contact area was solved, And the contact area was also calculated by ABAQUS and ADAMS. The results indicate that the calculated results is so close to the simulation results, that the geometric algorithms can be used to solve the contact area in the ballonet polishing process.
