Frontal structure design of a minibus based on pedestrian protection

Abstract: Aiming at the problems of protecting the lower limb, taking a minibus as the research object, CAE simulation technology was used to establish finite element model of pedestrianvehicle collision, then the model was solved by LSDYNA and impact process and pedestrian leg injuries were analyzed by results. At the same time, according to the analysis results and the original structure of minibus frontal bumper system, two kinds of optimization schemes were put forward, combing energy absorbing foam and thinwall sheet with lower leg supporting structure in the original minibus respectively. The finite element model of was remodeled and calculated. The results indicate that two schemes can obviously improve the protection capability for pedestrian of the minibus and the latter one served a better function. It provides a reference for the design of the frontal bumper of the minibus.
