Abstract: Aiming at the problem that during the braking process of the elevator safety gear, the braking performance affected by the temperature rise, the measurement of temperature rise during braking process of diamond surface safety gear was studied. The material properties and thermal parameters of the block was tested, the values of modulus of elasticity, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity and specific heat change with temperature were obtained, the grids of model was divided by Hypemesh, the velocity and pressure amplitude curves were defined on the block, the friction generates heat between block and guide rail was simulated by Abaqus, the maximum surface temperature distribution of clamp block under different loads and speeds were obtained. The test of measurement of braking temperature rise was carried out by test tower, thermocouple and temperature recorder, the temperature changes under different loads and speeds were obtained, the simulation results and test results were also analyzed. The results indicate that the rated speed below 2.5 m/s, the J thermocouple is used and the maximum temperature measured is the same as the simulation result.
