Abstract: Aiming at the problems in mass customization, such as low assembly efficiency, frequent changes of assembly process, assembly mistakes etc., a projected augmented reality assembly guidance system was proposed and designed. Comparison of the wearable equipment and manual operation of the computer equipment during assembly induction process were summarized. The induction information such as text, pictures and 3D animation into the real assembly scene to induce the operator to complete the product assembly was tested. A handfree interaction method in assembly induction process was proposed. A projection augmented reality method based on viewpoint tracking to automatically transform the projected image and make the projection content change with the operators viewpoint was proposed by using Kinect to track the operators head orientation. The results indicate that the system can improve humanmachine interaction and enhance guidance efficiency in manual assembly.
