Abstract: Aiming at the problems of inefficient reverse design and complex surface design of bent arms in an imported automobile suspension,by analyzing the shape characteristics of the part, the method of its inverse design was studied. Geomagic Design X software was used to combined with the idea of forward and reverse hybrid modeling, the feature extraction of each part of the suspension bent arm was realized, and the reconstruction of the solid model was completed quickly. The accuracy of the proposed method was verified by Geomagic Control X software. Finally, the finite element static analysis of the bent arm was compared with the design strength requirements, and the feasibility of the reverse design method was verified. The research results show that this method provides a realistic and feasible design idea for the reverse design of some complex castings in automotive suspensions. At the same time, it can shorten the cycle of design and improvement of such parts and accelerate the rate of product forward and reverse development.
