Abstract: Aiming at investigating the strength design of the platefin heat exchanger header , the header with radial nozzles under internal pressure was studied by means of the finite element analysis(FEA) and resistance strain gauge. The calculation methods plastic pressure based on ratio plastic work curvature (RPWC) criterion, plastic work curvature (PWC) criterion and zero curvature (ZC) criterion were presented. The results indicate that the test results of strain validate the correctness of finite element modeling method. The consistency of test results and finite element analysis results shows the correctness of finite element modeling method. The plastic pressure results indicate that dimensional parameters affect the plastic pressure.RPWC criterion is simpler and more intuitive than the PWC and ZC criterion. The plastic pressure fitting formula of RPWC criterion for header is reasonable, which can provide beneficial guideline for calculating the plastic pressure and selecting dimensional parameters in designing the platefin heat exchanger header with radial nozzle.
