Abstract: There are some problems in traditional scheme evaluation, such as lack of reasonable method guidance and strong subjectivity. At the same time, the evaluation indexes of gear train transmission scheme are complex and diverse, so it is difficult to convert scheme evaluation from qualitative evaluation to quantitative evaluation. Aiming at the problem of comprehensive evaluation and optimal selection of the wheel train transmission schemes, a comprehensive evaluation method based on interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2FSs) was proposed,and the comprehensive evaluation mathematical model was established. Firstly, a multi-level and multi-source heterogeneity comprehensive evaluation index system was constructed considering the static characteristics, dynamic characteristics, and structural features of the various wheel train transmission schemes. Then, a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) method based on IT2FSs combined with the interval type-2 dependent ordered weighted average (IT2DOWA) operator was proposed to assign index weights. The method of constructing evaluation functions was used to complete the pre-processing of index data to solve the problem of unquantifiable data of the complex evaluation indexes. To address the problem that indexes of different data types could not be measured uniformly, the probabilistic statistics method combined with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) method was used to achieve a quantitative comprehensive evaluation of the wheel train transmission schemes. Finally, the feasibility of the evaluation method was illustrated based on the simulation analysis and theoretical derivation of a wheel train transmission scheme, and the effectiveness of the comprehensive evaluation method based on IT2FSs was verified by using robustness analysis. The research results show that the quantified comprehensive evaluation score of this scheme is 62.53, which is good and basically meets the requirements of use, and all the schemes maintain their original rankings in the robustness analysis, which indicates that this method has certain anti-interference capability.
