Abstract: The load on the contact line of double involute gear is unevenly distributed, which makes the load calculation difficult. The existing methods are either too simplistic, which leads to insufficient accuracy, or too complicated, which leads to a large amount of calculation and longtime consumption, and are not suitable for the study of load distribution of double involute gears. Therefore, the contact line of double involute gear was divided into several sections, the load distribution model of double involute gear was established, and the load distribution of gear teeth was studied by comprehensive finite element method.Firstly, the time-varying contact line of double involute gear was solved according to its meshing characteristics, and the contact line of each meshing moment was "segmented". Then, based on the principle of minimum potential energy, a load distribution model of double involute gear was established, and the load distribution of gear teeth was studied comprehensively by using finite element method. Finally, a comparative analysis was carried out on the load distribution of double involute gear and ordinary involute gear, and the influence of input torque and tooth width on the load distribution of double involute gear teeth was studied. The research results indicate that the error between the load distribution model and the finite element simulation results is within 10%, which suggests that the load distribution model is reasonable and reliable. The load distribution of double involute gear is found to be uneven along the contact line, with the maximum load value near the involute. Under the same parameters and working conditions, the load fluctuation amplitude of double involute gear is smaller than that of ordinary involute gear. When the input torque increases, the load distribution near the involute of double involute gear undergoes a sudden change. With the increase of tooth width, the unevenness of the load distribution of double involute gear along the contact line increases.
