Performance comparison of ninephase induction motor and threephase induction motor

Abstract:Compared with the threephase motor, multiphase motor has smaller torque ripple, higher reliability and multicontrol freedoms.Aiming at this problem, the mathematical model of multiphase motor was established. The characteristics of 9phase motor  and 3phase motor by using the MMF distribution were analyszed.A complete finite element analysis was included. The results indicate that the ninephase induction motor will have higher reliability and it can be suppled by nonsinusoidal voltage.The output torque would increase and the torque ripple would minish.
