Performance comparison of ninephase induction motor and threephase induction motor

Abstract:Compared with the threephase motor, multiphase motor has smaller torque ripple, higher reliability and multicontrol freedoms.Aiming at this problem, the mathematical model of multiphase motor was established. The characteristics of 9phase motor and 3phase motor by using the MMF distribution were analyszed.A complete finite element analysis was included. The results indicate that the ninephase induction motor will have higher reliability and it can be suppled by nonsinusoidal voltage.The output torque would increase and the torque ripple would minish.
